Dropping the Ball

Sometimes routines and the best laid plans can end up going out the window. The last couple of weeks have felt that way for me! Usually I stick pretty rigidly to our morning routine – not in an inflexible way – but I definitely function better when we can tick the main things off each day. I like to feel on top of things.

Which brings us to why the last couple of weeks have felt so chaotic! In signing my three oldest kids up to do the AHE history fair I knew it would be full on, but I always seem to underestimate just how all-consuming the projects can be. Gone by the wayside are maths, spelling, handwriting, science, reading etc. The only subjects I feel somewhat pleased about are writing and history, since there has been an awful lot of writing and research to do!

Something about my personality type really struggles to embrace this type of learning. I find it hard not to feel guilty about the missed maths especially. But I have a feeling the experience is probably beneficial to both the kids and to me, and will no doubt mean we return to our normal routine with a little more enthusiasm!
