Adventure in Stories

Our family loves to read. On most evenings, my husband reads aloud to our kids, and during the day I often read to them also. We read aloud to all of them, from the 13 year old down to the 2 year old. Sometimes we read to them individually, like when I’m putting our two year old to bed, or when it’s a special one-on-one time with one parent and one child. Often reading aloud in our family looks like all the kids folding up their clothes after dinner while Dad entertains them with the Chronicles of Narnia or Oliver Twist. Living in an environment where reading is so frequently done, so cherished and enjoyed, has unsurprisingly turned our kids themselves into bookworms too.

During our last few road trips to the family bach we have been immersed in the imaginary world of Natalia with Heather and Picket Longtreader in the Green Ember Series. We have been listening to the audiobook, so no one gets car sick attempting to read! As usual, we weren’t sure what to expect and whether we’d ‘get into’ the book, but now we are partway through book three and loving it! There’s adventure, courage, loyalty, betrayal, friendship and love.. as the website aptly puts it, they are “New Stories With An Old Soul.” We are eagerly anticipating the next opportunity to continue the story!
