Two Weddings and Christmas

For our family it has been a week of celebrations!

Wedding #1

My brother got married on Saturday a week ago. Sadly, since the wedding was in Melbourne, we were only able to watch via zoom. It wasn’t until the actual event took place that it hit me what we were missing out on! But it looked like an amazing place with perfect weather, and my brother and his new wife had a great time celebrating with their Melbourne friends. I hope we can have some form of celebration when they are able to visit New Zealand.

Wedding #2

Next up was my sister’s wedding, which was on Waiheke on the 23rd. It was a beautiful day and a lovely occasion with family and friends. The venue was amazing, as was the food and everything pretty much went according to plan. I had the honour of being a bridesmaid, and our six children all got to come down the aisle in cute clothes as ring bearer and flower girls (and cute baby being carried by his big sister). We’re so thankful it was able to go ahead in these uncertain times!

So in the space of a week, our family went from having just one daughter married (for 15 years!) to having all three siblings hitched!

Christmas

Then of course came Christmas. We enjoyed relaxed celebrations with both sides of the family – mine on Christmas day and my husband’s two days later. I used Recipe Tin Eats for the ham which worked a treat. It’s definitely become one of my go-to recipe websites! We don’t exchange gifts with our extended families any more, so that certainly reduces the stress leading up to Christmas (not to mention the number of new toys to find homes for!)

I hope all of you have had a wonderful and relaxed festive season too. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
