Lockdown

There were mixed feelings in our house regarding the news of a level 4 lockdown..

Obviously missing out on some of our usual activities is disappointing. The older three kids have been enjoying folk dancing this term, which was also cut short after just two lessons last year. My five year old started swimming lessons two weeks ago and will now have to wait longer for lesson number three. It’s frustrating to miss out on connecting with friends and family too.

On the positive side, staying home is not something our family actually minds that much, especially when the weather is cold and miserable! We’ll all enjoy having Dad/hubby home and extra time together as a family. My 11 year old reacted to the news by saying that at least they always come up with creative ways to entertain themselves in lockdown. And she is looking forward to the prospect of more baking!

As the saying goes, when life hands you lemons..

For us making the most of lockdown will probably involve: more games and reading with Dad, more baking and walks, more projects started and hopefully even finished, and no doubt some attempts at folk dancing! An unusual schedule tends to help us think outside the box and shake up our usual routine. I hope you all are able to find something to look forward to in the coming week!
