Folk Dancing
As I mentioned in a previous post, I signed our three older kids up for folk dancing this term. They all love it! All three have enjoyed learning the various steps and are slowly becoming more coordinated. And who can resist the joyful, upbeat and catchy music! However thanks to the lockdown, we have sadly only managed to attend two sessions again this year.
To our delight, we discovered last year that much of the music to the dances is available on YouTube! So once again we have livened up lockdown with some of our own folk dancing.
Here are some that we’ve enjoyed:
- Heel and Toe Polka (Brown Jug Polka)
- Carnivalito
- Mexican Hat Dance
- Jibidi
- The Bunny Hop
- Sir Roger de Coverley
- Paw Paw Patch
Unfortunately we couldn’t find music for a lot of the other dances, or only a different version. For example, we hoped to find the same version of Yimi Sadech, La Cadeuse and Nine Pins but to no avail.
Nevertheless the few we did find have provided us with a fun way to get some exercise!
