A Different Kind of Birthday
Today is Sophia’s 4th birthday! Unfortunately, most of her presents didn’t arrive in time, since we couldn’t order them till level 3. She’s taken it pretty well though, and seems to understand that there are more on the way!
Our other kids have been hard at work all week, doing their best to make her day special despite the unusual circumstances! They made her an impressive range of gifts and cards to present her with this morning. Our family tradition is to give our presents first thing in the morning on Mum and Dad’s bed – this is something we’ve done since Grace’s first birthday!
Last night, we blew up some balloons and put them up, including one tied to the back of Sophia’s chair. That’s another tradition we started several years ago to make the birthday person feel a little more special.
Grace (10) planned all sorts of party games, and enlisted Alex (8) to draw a donkey for a Pin the Tail on the Donkey game:
They have also done a treasure hunt, Pass the Parcel, Bucket Toss, Gumboot Throw, relays, Sardines, Hide and Seek.. all organised by Grace. It’s really sweet to see them creating their own fun!
