Mother’s Day

Happy Mothers’ Day to all the mothers out there!

I am so thankful to my mum for all she has done for me. She raised me and loved me, modelling what it is to be a wife and mother. These days she is still very much involved in my life. Once a week she comes round and helps with the homeschooling, including teaching my daughter Spanish. She is always mending clothing and other items for us – we keep her constantly busy! Even skills like knitting and sewing she is helping to pass on to our kids. Mum (and Dad) are extremely generous and always there to help us out if needed. I am so blessed to have them as my parents!

I am also thankful for my grandmothers and my mother-in-law. They have all influenced my life for the better! Not only am I thankful for the way my husband was raised, but also for the ongoing support and love our family receives from my mother-in-law.

Finally, I am so thankful for the blessing of motherhood that I experience daily! Having five children isn’t always easy, but it certainly is a privilege. I love the sloppy kisses and cuddles from my one year old, and all the sweet cards from my other children! (Still waiting on those shoulder massages though)

Although at times I wonder what it would be like to have a career and make a name for myself, I truly believe that motherhood is a higher calling, and worth every sacrifice. Embracing it and enjoying it has been the best antidote to discontentment! I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I have a feeling that at the end of my life I won’t regret the time and energy spent on training and raising our children.. only perhaps that I didn’t do it as well as I could have.
