Hooray for Social Contact!

It’s so great to finally be out of lockdown! Today we have two homeschooling friends with us for the morning, because their mum needed to take their oldest sibling to an appointment. The younger ones weren’t allowed to tag along, thanks to Covid-19.

I purposely delayed telling my kids the news till last night, knowing what excitement and impatience it would produce. As expected, there was much shrieking and whooping in response!

Despite the whole schooling-at-home thing being largely a continuation of our normal routine, the lack of social contact has not! Our kids love seeing their friends and have really missed this during lockdown. While we still can’t attend our usual swimming lessons and writing group, it’s exciting to reconnect with friends in real life.

Yesterday my mum came around for the first time in 8 weeks. We had only caught up via video calls throughout lockdown, and it was so amazing to finally meet again in person! This whole period has really shown how much we take for granted in our usual lives. It has made me realise how thankful I am for all the relationships we have!
