Art Exhibition

AHE‘s annual Art Exhibition is coming up on the 2nd of November. It will be held at the Te Tuhi Gallery in Pakuranga from 10 am – 12 noon, and the theme this year is “Inspired by great artists”. It’s a great opportunity for homeschooled kids to get creative and enjoy displaying their artwork to an appreciative and encouraging audience!

My kids have enjoyed participating in this for the last two years. The first year’s theme was something like “Lines and Designs”, which sounded like something we could manage! Grace designed a dam, and Alex constructed a train bridge.

Last year the theme was “Animals”. Grace modelled zoo animals with clay, and arranged them in enclosures made from cardboard. Alex built a Noah’s ark out of popsicle sticks and shaped animals from plasticine to decorate it. Jessica drew and painted a picture of a hedgehog.

I’m not sure we’ll get time to put something together for this year’s exhibition, but it’s been fun to do in the past. Surprisingly the kids put in a good showing, despite us not being the most creative and artsy family!
