The Tale Spinners

My eldest daughter is experiencing the excitement and drama of her first ever production! She has enjoyed drama workshops over the past few years but the intensity and excitement of preparing for an actual show is next level.

The show is called “The Tale Spinners” and will be performed this weekend in Papakura. (Check out southsidedrama.nz for tickets and info!) Written by Douglas Roberts, the play (from the bits I’ve seen) is witty and entertaining. The cast of 17 young people received their scripts last Monday, and since then have been hard at work each day. Learning lines, blocking scenes (deciding where props and characters will go) and trying on costumes has all been part of the immersive experience. Alongside their preparation, lighting is being tested, seats have been rearranged, and props and costumes are being created. It’s been an incredible sight to witness!

Despite the exhaustion and seemingly endless fundraising, I know it’s an experience my daughter will cherish. She’s certainly loving every minute of it!
